I would like to take a minute to tell you a little bit about our family and the Pet Doctor. First, my name is Tina Hurst and I own the Pet Doctor along with my two daughters, Paula and Kate.
I really love working with my family. My son Jamie lives in Omaha so he doesn't work in the store but he will be helping with the construction end of our new store coming in November, and I'm just waiting for my grand kids to get old enough work with me too!
I started working in a pet store when I was 12, my mother's friend owned a pet store in Illinois and she let me start cleaning guinea pig cages. When I was 16 I started working full time for her after school and weekends and I continued working for her until I was 21 when I moved to Nebraska. After moving to Nebraska, I was a stay at home, full time, mother of three for several years. Unfortunately, three growing children were expensive so I went back to work. I was lucky to find a job as a manager for a national pet store franchise. I recieved extremely valuable training and experience from them but we had numerous differences in our views of selling pets. I believe then, and now, that a pet is a family member. I would rather not make a sale than put the wrong pet in a home. We no longer carry a lot of things for that reason. I parted ways with the franchise in 1988 and started the Pet Doctor.
Well, now that you've had a chance to get to know us a little, please come in and let us get to know you. We will be there with you every step of the way in adding a new member to your family. My customers joke that it is like adopting a child. I agree, but, fortunately, you won't have to worry about college tuition.
Thanks for stopping by our website, we'll look forward to seeing you in our store!
Tina
